An Unbiased Review of the New Lenovo IdeaPad Z360

We have heard good things about the Lenovo IdeaPad Z360 ultra portable laptop for a while now, so we thought we should buy one and test it for our readers. So we did just that and bought a brand new Z 360 notebook. We were pleasantly surprised from the moment we opened the nice box. Inside was a small and stylish ultra portable laptop that immediately caught our eye with its elegant design and sharp lines. This is definitely one of the best looking IdeaPad laptops Lenovo ever designed. However, since we are aware many of our users are not that interested in how good a laptop looks but rather how good it behaves when put to the ultimate tests, we started testing it.

Of course, the first thing to test was the central processing unit (otherwise known as the CPU, for more experienced users). It is basically the brain behind the Lenovo IdeaPad Z360 and it should always be the first thing to test. Inside the notebook, a very promising Intel Core i3 350 M Processor is working at a high speed of 2.26 GHz and on a good FSB (front side bus, for less experienced users) of 1066 MHz and on a 3 MB L2 cache. The specs are very good and the CPU delivers when put to even the most resource intensive tests! It definitely receives 10 out of 10 points for its performance. Next, the 3 GB of DDR3 memory (PC3 8500) working at a high, 1066 MHz frequency, complement the already powerful Lenovo IdeaPad Z360 ultra portable notebook.

The graphics processing unit (GPU) is proudly represented by an Intel HD Graphics. Although below what we would have expected, it still manages to output crisp and clear graphics on the stylish 13.3 inch HD display (featuring the innovative LED backlight technology and benefiting from the Anti Glare system) at a maximum resolution of just 1366 x 768 pixels. The video card and display receive just 8 out of 10 points. Lenovo IdeaPad Z360's large, 500 GB hard disk drive managed to store all our documents, movies, and games, although its score received a penalty for its small, 5400 rotations per minute speed. It really impacts the overall performance of the laptop.

A few very useful features like the Intel Centrino Advanced-N with WiMAX 6250 network card and Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR earned a few extra bonus points for the Lenovo IdeaPad Z360.

Our brand new Lenovo IdeaPad Z360 behaved very well in all our tests and we were thrilled to find a very capable processor and high speed DDR3 memory. However, the video card and display should have been better for its price of $799.
